Gorge Road Dairy Farm


This large scale property offers plenty of scope for milking platform or self-contained options. The farming district of Gorge Road is considered summer safe, with a rainfall of circa 1,150mm per annum. The farm was converted in the early 2000s and infrastructure features a 50 bail rotary cowshed with ACRs, Protrack and in-shed feeding. Present Condition (areas approximate)

Approximately 283 hectares as milking platform. No crop for winter 2025. In addition to the milking platform there is approximately 28 hectares of partially grazable rough land that may be able to be developed further but subject to Environment Southland rules. There is approximately 40 hectares of retired and ungrazed land within the title. Approximately 43 hectares was cultivated and regrassed in 2024/25 season.

Water Supply

There are two bores, one is located at cowshed and the other west of cowshed which was drilled recently. Pumped to tanks at cowshed and pressure system to troughs through 50mm mainline. There is a iron filtration system and a salt plant treats water for plant wash.

Water take is for three litres per second and 102 cubic metres per day and expires 28th November 2026.

Effluent

60 day storage pond with weeping wall, spread via underground hydrants (60% of area) to 12 low rate pods over an area of 202 hectares.

Effluent consent is for 850 cows and expires 28th November 2026.

Fertiliser

Soil tests on file. Maintenance fertiliser at 600kg/ha and lime applied this season.

Access and Roads

Full internal lane access to a good standard with long road frontage down Waituna Gorge Road.

Normally 230t of silage bought in off farm.
