Water Supply

New bore drilled last winter with 2l/sec flow rate (130 m deep). There is tank at this bore which then pumps to two 30,000 litre tanks at cowshed. There is secondary pump at bore that pumps to two 30,000 litre tanks at top of hill to service this area, gravity fed. 50 mm mainline with 32 mm laterals. Troughs in most paddcoks, some paddocks have two troughs. There is a dosotron at cowshed not currently used as minerals put through meal feed system. Water take also alllows for surface water from Wendon stream for stock water purposes as back up.

All houses are supplied from Otama water scheme with each house having 30,000 litre tank and have booster pumps.

Effluent

Effluent system recently upgraded which now sees effluent spread over all consented area (127 hectares). Hydrants installed via 4 lines with jumbo pods on HALO system. Effluent is gravity from cowshed to concrete pond divided with solids screen in pond + new sperate solids separator installed. Then liquids are gravity fed to larger concrete pond where it is spread to the farm. There is an additional lined pond for excess liquids that pumps back to concrete pond when concrete pond triggers to 50% capacity. Green Wash system not currently used.

The effluent consent is for 800 cows and expires on 30th August 2027.

Cowshed has had significant upgrades over last five years including backing gate with variable speed drive, new motors for platform and rollers, variable vacuum pump, twin filter sock upgrade, Glycol chiller unit, new set of Waikato cups, upgraded in-shed feed system, automatic teat sprayer.
