Present Condition ( areas approx)

The GPS mapped area indicates an effective area of 136.7700 hectares inclusive of a paper road. Being a river boundary property, there is some accretion land adjacent to the river. The property has a flood bank near the eastern boundary of the Aparima River.

7.5 hectares ex fodder beet from winter of 2023 will be regrassed. Plan is to plant 7.5 hectares of new fodder beet for winter of 2024. There will be 7.5 hectares going from grass to summer turnips with aim of back into grass around March 2024. Approximately 100 cows wintered on the milking platform.

Water Supply

Effluent

The effluent is gravity fed from the cowshed to a sump/stone trap and then pumped for separation to a screw press. Kliptank system for storage and then the effluent is applied through low rate sprinklers. There is a calving pad and silage pad that effluent is collected from.

The effluent application area on the farm is approximately 113 hectares, application by way of low rate pods.

The discharge permit is for 450 cows and has recently been renewed for 10 years, expiring 2032.

Fertiliser

Fertiliser is applied in line with Ballance recommendations. Overall fertility is in good heart with pH and Olsen P at optimum levels. Soils test are available on request.
